How I work

Moving ideas and ambition forward in complex times, I work across civic, business and cultural life, with creativity at the core. My practice often involves creating the conditions that didn’t previously exist — for communities, organisations, businesses and places navigating change.

When facing challenges, we know that better outcomes won’t come from doing things the way we’ve always done them, or through more control — they come from the conditions we create together.

Working relationally, I connect people, sectors and geographies, as I consistently see that initiatives shaped this way go further and last longer. I work with civic and cultural organisations, funders and public bodies who are navigating transition.

Three interconnected strands shape much of how I work:

Signals

Clarifying what matters: Working in complex civic systems I’ve learned how to spot potential early and understand levers for change — creating space for deeper enquiry, identifying emerging patterns, surfacing underlying challenges and translating uncertainty into clarity.

Strengths I bring: Vision development and direction-setting. Research and insight translation. Civic, creative and cultural policy framing. Strategic reflection during transition.

Structures

Designing what can hold: I design programmes, partnerships and models that turn ambition into useful infrastructure, especially designing for and with those who aren’t yet in the room. I’m equally interested in identifying what needs to be reshaped or let go — examining assumptions, processes or power dynamics that may be limiting impact.

Strengths I bring: Prototyping and piloting to reduce risk and build evidence. Reimagining funding models. Designing programmes, partnerships, tools and frameworks. Considering challenges, power, relationships, and opportunities. Direct experience of building inclusive and democratic business models.

Momentum

Building shared movement: I get things started – finding the energy for what’s possible, and helping others find theirs. When there’s shared understanding, I encourage people to move from conversation to action. I work with discomfort rather than avoiding it, supporting teams to harness their strengths and mobilise with shared confidence to build collective community wealth.

Strengths I bring: Public engagement and participatory/democratic process design. Facilitation and hosting of practical workshops. Cross-sector convergence around complex challenges. Speaking and hosting conversations with changemakers and policymakers.
